In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.
1. Backgrounds/Wallpapers
I spend a lot of time on my desktop computer, and so I'm always on the lookout for fannish wallpapers that will make me smile while I'm recording grades or reading fic. However, I've recently had some problems finding wallpapers I like for my new fandoms. I don't know if it's because I'm looking in the wrong places, or if it's because everyone is doing tumblr graphics these days. So, if anyone would like to make or direct me to some wallpapers that center around the following fandoms/pairings, I would be very happy.
Downton Abbey: Sybil/Branson, Matthew/Mary, or general cast/house backgrounds
Game of Thrones: Jaime/Cersei, House Lannister, or House Stark backgrounds (I'm also very fond of Arya)
PotC: Ok, this isn't a new fandom... but anyone who can find me some good backgrounds featuring Norrington, Gillette, and Groves will have my eternal appreciation. Anyone finding/making a Groves/Anamaria background will get... something special. Probably anything you want that I can write.
Robin Hood: I'm all about the Guy/Marian here, but I'd also love some backgrounds that center on the Djaq/Allan/Will dynamic.
2. Fic
Um... see above for pairings I like? Things I've had a hankering for lately include:
- Some new Sparrington. Rereading some of my old favorites recently reminded me how much I miss the days when there was constantly new fic being posted. I like them witty and a bit antagonistic.
- I'm all for any Guy/Marian people want to write me, but I've also always wanted to read more post-season-2 Guy and Allan interaction, either before or after Guy ends up with the gang. Their tentative friendship/partnership was something I thought was terribly under-utilized. I'm also partial to "Djaq and Will come back at the end of S3 and things go very differently" stories.
- Anything at all that fixes what happened to Meg in RH.
3. Things based on my fanworks
I'd be happy beyond belief if anyone did anything (fanart, podfic, fanmix) for a work I've made, but special wishes include:
I feel kind of greedy asking for this because this is the one work I've ever had anyone do a fanart for, and it's a great one, but I'd really love a fanart of Djaq and Guy from The Wolf's Head. Their friendship in that fic came out of nowhere, and it's one of my favorite surprises in my own writing. So the two of them hanging out in Sherwood being buddies would be lovely, and the more I've thought about it, the more I've wished I could draw them. (I can't... ask anyone. Even my stick figures look off.)

Date: 2012-01-08 08:47 am (UTC)Drawing is something I keep thinking I should go back to - I keep having a hankering to do it and then... I dunno. I get discouraged, because I feel like there's no way I'm going to be as good as I USED to be and why bother when I could be making necklaces or something instead?
I have no idea what that's all about.
If I still had genuine Photoshop I would try at backgrounds or something, but I don't understand all the tools in GIMP and that's all I've got. Also I'd probably make a mockery of the spirit of it as I don't know ANY of these fandoms really at all. I don't think PotC hitting my retinas counts as knowing the fandom...

I used to be good at it, I have all of my instruments here with me, but every time I think I ought to play, I think to myself, "It's going to sound SO much worse than it used to... why not spend my time writing or doing something I'm good at NOW?" For me, it's a combination of guilt at not having kept up the skill and laziness making me cringe at the amount of work I'd have to put in to get back up to where I'd want to be.
You are sweet to even think about trying... and I'd love to see what a non-fan made of any of these... (and I don't think you could make a mockery of the spirit of Robin Hood any more than the creators already did...)
Also, your line about PotC hitting your retinas made me giggle. That's... a good way to put it. It kind of hit my retinas too. With a 4X4.
