So I've found a ton of information about how to cross-post to DW and lj using Semagic. I've got that part figured out. I've also found slightly less information about how to correctly format user names when crossposting, but nothing about using Semagic to correctly format user names so they direct to the correct journal site. (See my last DW post for the problem with this... all of my links to other journals went to DW accounts that don't exist.)
Take me as an example. I've got the same user name at both DW and lj. If I want to talk about my lj account, I would like to be able to direct to corrielle, and if I'm talking about something going on over on my DW, I'd like to be able to direct to
corrielle, and I'd like for my posts on both journaling sites to recognize the difference.
Trying it out now, logged into DW on Semagic and crossposting to lj using info found in comments here.
ETA 1: Tried it... seems to work well in DW, but not so well in lj. Anyone have suggestions?
ETA 2: lj has apparently decided that it doesn't like me cheating on it with DW, and has moved some 5-year-old comments to the lj entry. STRANGE.
ETA 3: Figured out what happened. Trying to edit crossposts at different sites at the same time using Semagic is a BAD IDEA, apparently, because the entry ID numbers are different, and I just replaced one of my earliest LJ entries with this one. I'm kicking myself now. If there's one thing I fear more than anything else, it's unintentionally erasing my own writing... which is what I just did. And when I opened lj archive to see if I could find the old entry and replace it, I didn't stop it from synching fast enough and it ERASED IT THERE TOO. *$#^@#.
I'm getting dressed and going to class now. I think I've shot myself in the foot enough for one day.
