Day 11
In your own space, ask for recs. Something as simple as "I like XYZ (where XYZ is a kink, a pairing, a trope, etc) - please rec me some."
In retrospect, this looks very similar to my fannish wishlist... Ah well. I'm a woman of easily defined desires. ;-)
PotC recs:
Sparrington you think I haven't read that's plotty or clever. I love pretty much anything about the two of them, but I tend to like fics that focus on how James balances his duty to the navy with his affection for Jack.
Gillington, Grovette, (<-- that pairing name makes me giggle every time) or Naval OT3 that's off the beaten path. i.e. not posted on
razor_wit or
rnotc or
gillington or
grovette. I've... read pretty much everything there.
Any fic at all where Elizabeth and Theo interact in a significant way. I always thought they'd be great friends...
Any fic where Jack and Theo interact at all in a significant way. Theo obviously fanboyed over the good Captain Jack Sparrow for years, and it's a shame they never got to speak on screen.
Robin Hood recs:
Guy/Marian that's off the beaten path. (If it's on any of the major lj comms for the show, the ship, or the characters, I've probably seen it.)
Plausible, tactfully written Guy/Meg that's respectful to both of their characters and to certain dead heroines who shall remain nameless.
In character Guy and Allan fic that explores their odd not-a-friendship they have going on near the end of Season 2. (Bonus points if there's interaction between the two of them once Guy joins the gang.)
Fic that explores the complexity of the Djaq/Will/Allan dynamic, either in a friendshippy or an OT3 kind of way.
And... because I'm weird, anything decent that makes Robin, Archer, and Guy deal with their messed up family connection. I didn't get to see nearly enough of the three of them being grudging but awesome half-brothers.
ASoIaF recs:
Give me all your sharp, tragic, adorable, whimsical, I-don't-care-what-it-is-I-just-want-more Jaime/Cersei that's safe for someone who's only seen the first season of GoT and knows a very little bit about their backstory.
Give me fluff fic of the Starks being happy at Winterfell before *&^% Robert and his *^%^*& wife and her &^^%*%*&%* brother showed up. Yes. Fluff. With Dire Wolves.
Downton Abbey:
Give me Branson. At home in Ireland, driving Lady Violet, discussing politics, or tinkering in the garage while Sybil chats with him... just lots of Branson.
Also, I'd love some fics that focus on the relationships between the Crawley sisters.
Sherlock:
I've read almost no Sherlock fic, but I'd like to. I'm open to just about anything, but I'm mostly interested in fics focusing on John and Sherlock's odd not-a-marriage, both in an amusing way, and in a serious way.
