My activities the last few weekends have gone something like this: Faire, Faire, help with moving and faire. I'm not allowed to go to faire again for a while, at least not until the last weekend of SoCal so
gaelic_bohmeian and I can use our last set of tickets. Hopefully this time we'll be able to do more doing than buying.
The trip to Visalia went well. We got
ald_fan_girl,
smexypocky, and
angelsbaby0910 all moved into their new place with a minimum of fuss, and it was great to be able to spend time with them in the midst of all the moving madness. We also discovered that the Black Bear Diner is a good place to eat if one is really really hungry.
gaelic_bohemian and I did get to pop over to Visalia faire for a couple of hours, which made me very happy. I picked up some dragonsblood soap, some tiny candle holders that are perfect for the tiny candles I have a ton of with no way to burn them safely, a pair of knit hand warmers, and a beautiful silver ship pin that I'm going to somehow attach to my Norrington costume next time I wear it.
This week was a little stressful. My Ventura students turned in their research paper drafts, which meant I had to comment extensively on them, and I was observed in class on Thursday. That was a bit nerve wracking, but I think I got through it all right. I was teaching a lesson about logical fallacies, and thankfully my students seemed to be into it and giving me good attention and participation.
Went to the Simi Farmer's market for the first time today... not as big as the one we used to have in Calabasas, but nice all the same.
caedhe got some fantastic strawberries and navel oranges, and I got cauliflower and asparagus, one of which will feature prominently in dinner tonight.
Perhaps because I was going through mid-week Robin Hood withdrawal, perhaps because of
bookishy's recommendation, I did something I've never done before. I paid to download an audio book. It's call the Witchfinders, and it's a Robin Hood audio book from Big Finish (which is a company I'd mostly associated with Doctor Who... they're at Gallifrey every year). Now, some of you already know this, but I hate being read to. I would much rather read at my own speed, which is much faster than most people read aloud. However, this time I made an exception. First of all, Guy angsting over Marian and thinking he sees her ghost is part of the plot, and second, Richard Armitage reads it. That first was enough to make me curious, and the second sold me on it. We know what I'll be listening to on the way to work on Monday...
Finally, I got myself a Dreamwidth account this morning. I already like how much easier it is to upload multiple icons at once, and the easy distinction between subscribing and granting access. I'm
corrielle at DW as well, and I'll be crossposting, mostly, until I see how much of fandom migrates over. Even if I do decide to switch over to primarily using DW, I'll most likely keep my lj open and keep in contact with people who stay here. It doesn't seem like that's going to be too much of a hassle. So, if you're already over on DW (I can't help but think "Doctor Who" every time I see that abbreviation), feel free to add me to your circle.
