We're all in.
As of Friday, every single last thing that Rae and I own is here at the new house (or in our half of the shared garage). We spent most of last week slowly moving the remnants of what didn't go on the truck and cleaning out the old place.
The new place is... "cozy." Once we get the multiple towers of boxes unpacked, it will be cozy sans scare quotes. We have the bathroom and the kitchen almost entirely unpacked, and amazingly enough, everything seems to fit. However, there is a mythical lost kitchen box out there. We both remember things that were in it that haven't been found yet, and who knows what finding it is going to do to our careful organization. That fear aside, having the kitchen in a usable state has been really nice. We got out my great aunt's silverware and the nice renaissance faire purchases we made a couple of years ago, and we've been using all of it every chance we get. Last night, Rae made fantastic chicken breasts in olive oil, rosemary, thyme, and garlic. Hurrah for home cooking!
Since we gave away our old electric tea kettle, we've been making tea the really old-fashioned way. We boil water in a small sauce pan and then pour it over our tea when it's ready. Not fancy, and I have to pay a lot of attention to the water or it boils over, but utterly effective. And having tea in my new home makes it feel more like... well... home.
I've also got all of my DVD's and about half of my books unpacked. This is resulting in a tower of unpacked banker's boxes balanced precariously in front of the pantry doors. Hopefully, we'll be able to find room for them in the garage. Banker's boxes are USEFUL.
