Things I learned today:
1. Though the East India Company is much more famous, there was also a Levant Company that had the exclusive right to conduct British trade with the Ottoman Empire and the surrounding areas.
2. I know how much the weight measurement a "stone" is now. Fourteen pounds. I've heard that forever from British friends and in British books and movies, and I never did know exactly how much it was.
