Saw Star Trek tonight...
My brain will be back when it can wrap itself around the awesome.
ZOMG DID THEY JUST MANAGE TO RESET THE WHOLE FRANCHISE? Yes. Yes they did. And they did it WELL, in my opinion. I... there are no words.
I have tremendous respect for Chris Pine and Zacahry Quinto. They WERE Kirk and Spock. Not caricatures, not imitations... just THEM. Different then the originals, still recognizable and wonderful.
I love the rest of them too... especially Karl Urban's Bones. Doctor McCoy has always been one of my favorites of the original crew, and I LOVE LOVE LOVED him in this. So sarcastic and clever and there when the chips were down...
The kid who played Chekov was wonderful and adorable and I loved his accent from here to forever.
Simon Pegg was a crazier Scotty than I expected, but I liked it anyway. And he got his classic line in... WIN. Except that Rae just pointed out to me that he referenced Porthos (see icon) as the subject of his transporter experiments. FAIL, Scotty! I loved that dog! ;-) But I love you too... in all your insanity.
THEY USED SULU'S FENCING ABILITIES. ZOMGFLAILAMAZING.
Anamaria Uhura took her shirt off... and did other awesome things. She was sassy and HOT and smart... and though at first I was like, WTF, Uhura/Spock? I ended up rather liking the idea.
Leonard Nimoy still owns all of the scenes he's in even though he's like... what... 78?
And because part of me is a PotC fangirl 100% of the time... I'm still grinning from ear to ear that I got to hearTheodore Groves Greg Ellis say "Can't wait to kick some Romulan ass" right before he bit it. I should have been worried when he showed up wearing red.
My general impression: When do I get to go see it again?
